West Coast Swing & WCS Community Roles
MR WCS Vegas serves the Las Vegas dance community by bringing together the many roles I hold within West Coast Swing. I contribute as a dance staff member, mentor, dancer, ambassador, student, competitor, judge, instructor, and media marketer. Each role offers a different perspective, and together they create a balanced, informed view of the community. This page exists to show how those experiences shape the resources I provide. By wearing all these hats, I support dancers at every stage and help strengthen the Las Vegas West Coast Swing scene from multiple angles.

The Staff Member
My current and past involvement as a West Coast Swing staff member has placed me in nearly every role required to keep an event running smoothly. Over the years, I have served as a host, announcer, ticket taker, DJ, instructor, teacher, and announcer. Each role carries its own responsibilities, pressures, and expectations. While none of these roles alone were overwhelming, there were occasions when I needed to step into multiple positions at once to ensure the event stayed on track. Those moments taught me adaptability and accountability.

The Mentor
I selectively invite a small number of passionate West Coast Swing dancers to explore mentorship with me. This path favors depth, honesty, and long-term growth over faster and less desirable results. We begin by connecting socially at dances, meetups and dance events. I will observe your current dance level, timing, technique, and teamwork. My 35 years in West Coast Swing gave me insight into the many layer of your dancing. I have lived in and with this dance from many years that gives me a unique prospective. I have evolved over the years with the dance and the ever changing music.

The Dancer
Dance has always been more than movement to me; it has been a language through which I understand connection, creativity, and discipline. My journey in West Coast Swing began with curiosity and quickly became a commitment to growth. From the earliest days on the social floor, I was drawn not just to patterns, but to how movement feels when timing, balance, and intention align.

The Ambassador
Serving as an ambassador within and outside the West Coast Swing community has taught me that representation matters. Dancers often take cues from experienced members on behavior, tone, and values, whether they realize it or not. You can’t control what others say or the hearsay they rely on to form opinions, and you won’t satisfy everyone. I learned early on that allowing my conduct on and off the floor to speak for itself is the most effective way to shape the environment around me.

The Media Marketer
My background of 25 years in media marketing added another dimension to my involvement in West Coast Swing. Understanding branding, storytelling, and audience engagement showed me how dance communities and opportunities emerge. Noteworthy results are not accidental, it is built through clarity and purposeful communication. This is true in media marketing, west coast swing, and promoting dance events.

The Student
I have always understood that being a strong dancer requires first being a committed student. My early influences included Dave Getty and Mike Haley, both members of the UCWDC Hall of Fame. From them, I was introduced not just to steps or patterns, but to the joy of movement, how dance can feel smooth, intentional, and expressive when the body works with the music rather than against it. That foundation shaped how I approached learning from the very beginning.
