West Coast Swing in social media by MR WCS Vegas

The Media Marketer

My background of 25 years in media marketing added another dimension to my involvement in West Coast Swing. Understanding branding, storytelling, and audience engagement showed me how dance communities and opportunities emerge. Noteworthy results are not accidental, it is built through clarity and purposeful communication. This is true in media marketing, west coast swing, and promoting dance events.

Working in media marketing taught me how perception shapes opportunity. How events present themselves, how instructors communicate value, and how dancers appear online influence participation and trust. I learned to balance authenticity with clarity, ensuring messaging reflects reality rather than hype.

This skill set translated directly into supporting dance events and the people behind them. I’ve promoted events, highlighted instructors, and communicated their value to broader audiences. Thoughtful marketing creates access by welcoming new dancers and giving established dancers and venues meaningful platforms. Here in Las Vegas, this included branding, websites, marketing, and printed materials for Desert Sands Dance Festival, Rhythmic Soles Dance Studio, Famous Friday Dance, and West Coast Swing Vegas.

One key lesson from marketing is that…

One of the most important marketing lessons I’ve learned is that consistency builds credibility. I share this knowledge with dancers and event hosts to improve how they present themselves online. This encourages thoughtful, authentic communication across platforms. I also help clarify teaching philosophies, highlight events, and share information in accessible, inviting ways. When people can tell their story well, they connect more meaningfully with their audience.

I have coach event hosts and studio owners on media marketing and effective platform use. This helps them navigate where to show up and how to engage. By combining dance experience with marketing insight, I support both artistic and professional balance. The goal is sustainability, not just visibility. They gain tools to share their passion responsibly while staying grounded in purpose, integrity, and community values.
