Stop Dancing Flat: Master Texture in West Coast Swing

Why Texture Matters

West Coast Swing texture gives your movement contrast, intention, and personality. Without it, even accurate patterns can look emotionally flat. With it, familiar steps begin to communicate the music. Therefore, start by noticing how a song feels before choosing how to move. Ask whether the sound invites softness, crispness, weight, suspension, or playful energy. Your body should answer the music, not simply complete patterns.
